Scavenger Hunt
Teams race to find, photograph, or collect everything on the list before time runs out.
Category: party · Players: 4-30 · Duration: 30-120 min · Difficulty: medium
Rules
- Prepare a list of items, photos, or challenges worth points.
- Split into teams and set a time limit and boundaries.
- Teams collect proof for each item — photos count.
- Highest points when the timer ends wins.
Set up before the first turn
Bring Item list, Phones for photos, Timer. Gather 4-30 and place everything where all players can reach it before the first round.
Example first round
For a sample opening, the host reads the first instruction: “Prepare a list of items, photos, or challenges worth points.” Once that is complete, continue with: “Split into teams and set a time limit and boundaries.” Treat this first pass as practice if anyone is unsure.
Host it well
- Use a practice turn for new players and rotate the starting player so the same person does not lead every round.
- Give the goal first, demonstrate one turn, then introduce edge cases only when they appear.
- Plan for about 30-120 min, but finish at the end of a good round if the group's attention starts to drop.
You'll need
- Item list
- Phones for photos
- Timer
Inclusive play
Let any player pass without explaining why. Adjust time limits, reading, movement, or team roles so people can contribute without disclosing an accessibility need.
